The third round National MX Championship at the Uganda Motorsports Arena (UMA) Busiika today will be dominated by MX1 showdown between Arthur Blick Jr, Asaf Natan and 17-year-old Maxime Van Pee. The trio, left to lick dust by Canadian Mitchell Cooke at Garuga last month, will be out to prove that they are still forces on the local motocross scene.
Shs2m at stake
Apart from fighting for points, an anonymous MX fan has staked Shs2m for the winner of the day. Earlier in the week, teenager Maxime vowed to upstage the veterans and run away with the prize money. “Two weeks ago in Masaka, I beat Blick Jr and I intend to do the same this time round,” a confident Maxime told Sunday Monitor. He added: “I will prove that I am ready to rule this class (MXI).”
Maxime’s confidence cannot be doubted as he lies second in the championship, 17 points behind Blick Jr after two rounds. Blick Jr, equally excited about the challenge acknowledged the threat from Maxime. “He is a much improved rider, young and daring.
A bright future awaits him. But at the moment, I will do what I do best to win. I am on a mission to win my second successive hat-trick of titles and ninth in total,” he said. A cool Shs500,000 is at stake for the winner of the Boda-Boda race.
