TWO-TIME African champions Enyimba International of Aba are drawn to play the likes of Hilal (Sudan), Coton Sport Garoua (Cameroon) and Raja Casaablanca (Morocco) in tough group A of this year’s lucrative money spinning Orange CAF champions League competition released yesterday.
The Confederation of African football (CAF) conducted the draw for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League Sunday morning, putting the eight remaining teams into two groups of four each, where they will take part in a round-robin mini-league.
The two groups will take part in a set of round-robin fixtures to determine the top four teams in Africa
The notable name missing from the groups is that of TP Mazembe, as the team has been disqualified by Caf for fielding an ineligible player in the previous round of the elite African club competition.
Group B of the draw sees Ahly of Egypt, Esperance of Tunisia, Algeria’s Club Alger and the winner between Simba of Tanzania and Morocco’s Wydad de Casablanca, setting up a potentially all-North African group.
The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament, and the winner will represent Africa at the Club World Cup competition in December.
