Leading campaigner on international banking platform, United Bank for Africa (UBA) has announced the reopening of its Cote d’Ivoire operations following the return of normalcy in the world’s largest cocoa producer.
Daily Champion recalls that UBA in the wake of hostilities in the Cote d’Ivoire resulting from the political crisis effected a temporary suspension of operations in the interest of the safety of staff, customers and properties.
Chief executive UBA West African Region, Mr. Gabriel Edgal said in an interview that full banking activities in the closed Cote d’Ivoire operations are billed to reopen on Thursday, April 28, 2011 in all UBA branches across the country.
According to him, customers in that country can now access the bank’s array of products and services.
Statistics show that UBA had commenced operations in the French speaking West African country of Cote d’Ivoire in June 2008 in furtherance of its agenda of achieving leadership in the financial services sector in Africa as part of its 3 tier strategic intent.
UBA is one of Africa ‘s leading financial institutions offering international banking services to more than seven million customer accounts across Africa and key financial centers. It currently operates in 19 African countries and equally has presence in New York , London and Paris thus being able to effectively arbitrage Africa an African related businesses globally.
Only recent, the bank had received the nod of her shareholders and directors to adopt international banking here in Nigeria considering its deep capital and asset base and innovations recently deployed by the management.
