EGYPT has opened visa offices at its newly renovated embassy headquarters in Kampala to make it easy for Ugandans intending to travel to the north African country access travel documents.
The Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Esam Sharf, re-opened the embassy that was renovated at a cost of $2m on Thursday.
Sharf said easing access to visas for Ugandans intending to travel to Egypt was aimed at consolidating the good relationship between the two countries.
He also opened a new $4m residence for his country’s ambassador to Uganda in Kololo, an upscale Kampala suburb.
Sharf said Egypt would continue collaborating with Uganda in addressing the issue of insecurity in the Great Lakes region.
Sharf added that his country would never block Uganda from undertaking projects on the River Nile if Egypt is satisfied that the projects would not affect the volume of water.
