AGNES Nassuna, a second year Bachelor of Arts (Education) student, has been elected the first female guild president of Kampala University (KU).

Nassuna got 741 votes to edge out her sole rival, Issah Nooh Byarufu, in the hotly contested race. Byarufu got 658 votes.

Students also elected guild vice-presidents in charge of the university’s three branches in Luwero, Jinja and Masaka.

Mirembe said the exercise was largely peaceful except for the commotion that broke out at the Luwero campus during the counting of the vote for the postion of guild vice-president.
