He noted that the defeat at the Sunyani Congress will be so devastating that President Mills will be left with no option than to hang his political boots.
Speaking in an interview with Angel Fm, a Kumasi-based radio station on Thursday, the media liaison officer said all is set for the former First Lady to secure over 80 percent of the votes in the forthcoming congress.
Mr. Bempah emphasized that the party chose Sunyani as the venue for the congress in order to make history.
He explained that President Mills was declared as Vice President in 1996 at Sunyani and will be voted out as the party’s flagbearer at the same venue.
‘Let me tell all those who do not know that President Mills was introduced into the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 1996 as Vice President in Sunyani and he will be bidding farewell to politics at the same venue,’ the liaison officer expatiated.
Stressing that Nana Konadu will secure a landslide victory in the party’s upcoming congress, Mr. Bempah described the purported declaration of support for President Mills by some constituency and regional executives as a fluke.
He contended that the supposed declarations were being orchestrated by loyalists of President Mills, stressing that Nana Konadu has already taken a commanding lead.
The media liaison officer indicated that Nana Konadu is enjoying massive support from the party’s delegates and foot-soldiers because President Mills has failed to give them hope.
He noted that President Mills has neglected the party’s foot soldiers, who sacrificed their blood to ensure victory for the party and that Nana Konadu was the hope of the party.
Mr. Bempah claimed that President Mills, apart from neglecting the party’s foot-soldiers, had caused disaffection among the rank and file of the party, a development which was adversely affecting the party’s growth.
He noted that the NDC is weakening on daily basis because President Mills has refused to heed wise counsel and surrounded himself with people who are bent on victimizing people that fought for the sustenance of the party.
In spite of the mishaps, the media liaison officer was confident that the spirit of the party will bounce back for every member to feel at home after Nana Konadu is elected as flagbearer in the party’s congress.
After many months of intense speculations, the former First Lady formally made her intention of contesting President Mills known when she resigned her position as first Vice National Chairperson of the party.
