Offinso North Charges On DCE

THE DISTRICT Chief Executive of Offinso North, Samuel Appiah-Kubi, is in big trouble as a group of residents in the area has expressed dissatisfaction about his leadership style, calling on government to call him to order immediately.

Calling itself ‘The Concerned Citizens of Offinso,’ the irate group has made countless wild allegations against their DCE who is alleged to be creating discomfort for the entire populace and stifling the development of Offinso North.

They have therefore implored the government to quickly investigate the DCE’s activities and punish him accordingly for any wrong he has committed since assuming office.

The group particularly decried the DCE’s alleged misapplication of the District Assembly’s Common Funds and accused him of amassing colossal wealth since assuming office.

Speaking at a press conference, the Gyaasehene of Akomadan and the spokesperson of the group, Nana Kwaku Aful, accused the DCE of amassing wealth within a short period in office.

The group alleged that the DCE owned two mansions in Kumasi and Tema and a private school in Kumasi, alongside a fleet of vehicles including Tipper Trucks.

Nana Appiah Kubi alleged that the DCE recently abandoned his official residence and expended huge sums of money on hotel bills at Techiman, adding that this action of the DCE was uncalled for.

Mr. Appiah-Kubi also slammed the DCE for spending more than GH¢25,000 of the Assembly’s funds on overseas trips in the name of the Akomadan Fair Field (USA) sister city project.

They further accused the DCE of spending GH¢200,000 on the ICT Center and additional GH¢200,000 on growing grass around the same centre.

According to the irate group, the DCE, without going through the appropriate tender process, awarded contracts of the DCE’s bungalow, supply of furniture to the Akomadan SHS and the Afrancho-Nkwamkwaa electrification project.

Nana Kwaku Aful said the DCE had refused to continue with developmental projects in the area started by his predecessor for no justifiable reason and this had thwarted the area’s efforts of developing.

Meanwhile, Mr. Appiah Kubi is reported to have expressed surprise about the allegations levelled against him, insisting he had done nothing wrong, thus he was not afraid of any investigations into his activities.
