Cape Coast , May 11, GNA – The Central Region Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for truce in the Party.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Cape Coast after a meeting with representatives from the 19 constituencies in the Region Mr Ato Amoah, the Regional Youth Organizer, said the rift in the Party was a worry to all the youth in the country.
They appealed to former President John Jerry Rawlings who is the Founder and Chairman of the Party’s Council of Elders to initiate a move to get the impasse resolved as early as practicable.
The youth called on the Former President Rawlings to remain neutral and desist from making utterances that could be used as campaign messages by opponents in Election 2012.
The youth said if the former president took side in the campaign for the presidential slot of the party, it would be difficult for him to unite the Party after the July eight to 10 congress.
They appealed to all party members involved in the campaign to conduct themselves in a manner that would not make the campaign for the 2012 general election difficult for the NDC.
The youth pledged their support for the party and promised to work harder to make it to retain power in 2012 general elections.
Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe, the Central Regional Minister, also expressed concern about events in the Partyand said if these were not handled carefully and promptly, the party could have have difficulty in its attempt to retain power.
She said she was worried about the insults and unfounded allegations being directed at President John Atta Mills and cautioned people making such allegations not to take the President’s silence over them to mean weakness.
She appealed to the youth not to make ramblings in the party to distract their attention but to focus on their programmes initiated to make the Party to retain power in the 2012 election.
