Michael Essien will make a positive statement on his Black Stars future
Ghana midfielder Michael Essien will make a major statement on his future with the Black Stars within the next 24 hours.
The Chelsea midfielder pleaded with the Ghana FA authorities to allow him to temporarily put his Black Stars career on hold in August after suffering two career-threatening injuries while playing for his country.
He has since recovered from the injury that forced him to miss the most of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup.
Having fully recovered from the serious knee operations, insiders have told GHANAsoccernet.com that a ‘positive’ message will come from the player before midday on Monday.
Essien has not played for Ghana since a forty-five minute appearance at the 2010 Nations Cup.
An injury later on in training kept him out for almost a year with serious operations on the troublesome knee problem.
Essien has been a key player in the recent revival of Ghana football, helping them to qualify for their first two World Cups in 2006 and 2010.
