Inter’s Javier Zanetti: AC Milan deserves to win Scudetto

Inter captain Javier Zanetti has said AC Milan deserve its place at the top of the Serie A table, and the club will be worthy title winners should it clinch its 18th Scudetto against Roma tomorrow.

The Rossoneri are currently eight points ahead of Inter in the standings and could seal the Scudetto with a draw at the Olimpico.

Zanetti says Inter’s season has gone rather badly and his club failed to flourish because of various problems.

However, he takes nothing away from Massimiliano Allegri’s men.

“It’s right for Milan to win the Scudetto. Inter’s season was labored and we had difficulty and various injuries at the start of the campaign,” he told the press.

“We re-found the compactness of the group and now it’s important to finish the season in the best of ways, perhaps by finishing second and winning the TIM Cup Coppa Italia.”

Leonardo’s side takes on Fiorentina on Sunday in the league before hosting Roma on Wednesday in the second leg of the Coppa semifinal. Inter holds a 1-0 lead from the first game at the Olimpico.
