Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti insists he is happy in London despite reports linking him with a summer move to Serie A club Roma.

Spotted in the Italian capital this week, news of Ancelotti’s presence quickly grew and sparked rumour as excited Roma fans phoned local radio stations.

After a poor run of Blues form forced the current champions to play catch up this campaign, speculation over the future of 51-year-old Ancelotti grew, but the Italian is adamant he will honour his contract at Stamford Bridge.

He was quoted as saying by The Sun: “I still have a year of my contract with Chelsea and I’m happy in London.”

The former AC Milan manager won the Italian title with Roma as a player in 1983 and still holds affection for the club who sacked Claudio Ranieri in February.

Ancelotti added: “I have expressed many times it is my wish to one day coach Roma – that has always been my desire. However, this doesn’t mean that I will do it tomorrow.”

It is thought Ancelotti was in the Italian capital to celebrate the birthday of his ex-wife as his players prepare for a title showdown with Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford, a match where a win would see the Blues move above Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.
