At least 20 corporate companies have registered to take part in the Hared Source of the Nile Marathon set for May 22 in Jinja.

It has drawn banks that include Standard Chartered, DFCU, KCB Tropical, Stanbic, Bank of Africa, Centenary and Post Bank.

Also in the struggle to reduce infant mortality in the children’s ward at the Jinja regional referral hospital is Dasani, Kakira Sugar Works, Bidco Uganda, Eskom, Salini, City tyres and Steel Rolling Mills. Roofings Uganda Limited, Oilibya, Coca- Cola and Hared Petroleum have also paid the minimum Shs0.5m to register one team whereas individuals have to part with Shs10, 000.

In addition, government enterprises including Uganda Communication Commission (UCC), National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) will make their debuts along with Movit Products.

Registration at all Hared petrol stations countrywide closes tomorrow. Former world champion Dorcus Inzikuru and double Commonwealth gold medalist Moses Kipsiro will be in the fray.
