Redknapp will look to shake up his striking options and is a big fan of the former Rennes star. Gyan arrived on Wearside at the start of the season for £13million but has taken time to settle. He has struggled along with the rest of the Black Cats after Christmas bagging 11 goals in 30 games.
There has been no contact between the two clubs though Gyan is fully aware of Tottenham’s interest and would welcome a move to London. And with fellow Ghanaian’s Sulley Muntari and John Mensah set to leave at the end of their loan spells, the 25-year-old will be losing two of his closest pals which will push him closer to an exit.
Boss Steve Bruce will fight hard to keep Gyan at the club as he also prepares for a major shake-up in the summer. But owner Ellis Short is keen for Bruce to avoid the purchase of African stars with next year’s African Nations Cup in mind. Gyan, who has also been tracked by Bayern Munich, is out for the rest of this season with a hamstring injury.
