James Brown’s Daughter Sues Over Unworn Costume

Contactmusic :    James Brown’s daughter is embroiled in a legal battle with an Ohio clothing company over a stage costume made for the superstar before his death in 2006.

Deanna Brown Thomas has sued the singer’s longtime tailors, Curtis and Marilyn Gibson, based in Cleveland, Ohio alleging they have failed to hand over a custom-made cape which her father never got a chance to wear.

Thomas claims she paid the Custom Tailoring & Dressmaking Shop $7,000 (£4,375) to hand over the Godfather of Soul’s orders, including a silver cape, but she alleges the item was never returned, according to Cleveland.com.

Thomas says, “I never knew Curtis even had any of dad’s clothes until I called him after dad died and asked him to replicate some of his clothes. We wanted them for dad’s museum. Curtis then said, ‘I have some more outfits I made for him’ and we worked out a price to get them.”
