Mogadishu — The embattled president of the interim federal government of Somalia on Thursday paid a fleeting visit to war-zones in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
Sheikh Shrif Sheikh Ahmed, the leader of the horn of African nation has had a key meeting with the officials from African Union peacekeeping mission in Jaalle Siyad building at Mogadishu’s Warshadaha street.
Accompanied by members of the transitional government including the state minister of defense, the deputy minister of interior and others, the president observed several areas at Warshadaha Street.
Speaking at former building of defense ministry, Ahmed said Somali army has made tangible developments in a number of areas in Mogadishu and other regions in the country.
He said the military power of al Shabaab has been undermined during in the most recent battles with the government troops.
