Luq — Heavy gun-battle and artillery bombardments between Somali government forces and Al Shabaab fighters erupted on Friday night restarted parts of Gedo region in southern Somalia.
Reports say that the fighting broke out in the village of Bal-Mudule, about 7 kilometers south of Luq town in Gedo region.
During the gun battle, the two warring sides have also exchanged heavy artillery barrages as local residents faced fearful conditions.
However, wobbly clam is reported to have returned parts in the battle zones of Gedo region.
It is still unknown if there deaths or injuries which the two sides inflicted each other.
Diyad Abdi Kalil, Somali government’s head of the security in Luq, told Shabelle Media Network that Al Shabaab forces attacked government military bases in parts of Gedo region in southern Somalia.
Mr. Kalil noted that they had rebelled the ambush attack, spelling out they are still in their military bases.
No statements about the fighting were immediately available from Al Shabaab.
