Galka’yo — In Somalia’s central town of Galka’yo, unidentified armed men on Friday night shot and killed and a retired official, who used to work with an administration in Somali region administrated by Ethiopia.
Reports from the town of Galka’yo about 700 kilometers north of the Somali capital Mogadishu suggested that the deceased man was a security official worked previously with Somalia autonomous administration under Ethiopia control.
The man, whose name was identified only Mukhtar, was gunned down in a place which is heavily populated in restive northern Galka’ayo.
A large number of Puntland security forces have immediately reached at the spot and started search operations.
Abdirashid Ad Ed, Puntland’s police chief in Mudug region said the security forces have apprehended tow persons in connection with the assassination.
He also expressed a deep anxiety about the deteriorating insecurity activities in the town of Galkayo.
At least 7 people were killed and 14 others injured after mosques in Galka’yo had recently come under attack.
