The Governorship candidate under the platform of Congress for Democratic Change, CPC, Delta State, Mr Paul Obanua, has called for the immediate evacuation of all National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members from potential trouble spots in the country to their home states.
Speaking in the same vein, the Affirmative Action for Nigerian Youths, AANY, National Youth Council, NYC and National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, have also called for the immediate evacuation of the corps members to ensure their safety during tomorrow’s elections.
This came even as the groups among others demanded that a National Conference on Affirmative Action for Nigerian Youths be convened as a matter of urgency to chart a new course for the youths. They also called for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the heinous crimes and their sponsors.
It would be recalled that violence erupted in some Northern states in which a number of corpers members were killed in the process after the conduct of the presidential election that returned President Goodluck Jonathan elected.
