Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam ready for relegation battle despite more speculation surrounding his future

But speaking to reporters after Scotland’s 2-0 defeat to Brazil at the Emirates Stadium, the 25-year-old put his weight behind Blackpool’s survival bid.

He said: “My career is the next eight games at Blackpool and staying in the Premier League, that’s all I’m concentrating on at the moment.

“After that we will have to see.”

He added: “We have to learn from the defeat for when we play Wales and the Republic of Ireland.

“We can learn from their movement and passing.”

But the former Rangers midfielder thinks the experience of playing against one of the best sides in the world can only benefit Scotland in the future.

He continued: “Of course it is a great experience. 

“Brazil have world class players all over the park.

“You want to play against the best players in the world and Brazil have some of them in their team.

“It is a learning curve for us at the moment but we have to look at the  positives.”

Adam was also full of praise for Brazilian forward Neymar after his brace helped sink Scotland.

The Santos forward, who has been constantly linked with a move to England and Chelsea, produced an outstanding performance, scoring goals either side of half-time

His first was an exceptional finish while he was tripped by Adam to win a penalty in the second-half, which he duly converted.

Adam believes the young Brazilian has an exciting career ahead of him and could cope with English football should the likes of Chelsea show further interest.

He said:”He is obviously a top player.

“He is being linked with every top club in Europe which is no surprise.

“He is a good player and one who can light up the Premier League if he comes.”
