Sunderland loanee and Ghanaian international Sulley Muntari believes Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is the ideal candidate to take the England national team forward.

Current England boss Fabio Capello will depart the national hot seat after Euro 2012 and Redknapp is widely tipped to take over the reins upon the Italian’s exit.

“Harry would get on easily as England manager,” Muntari told the Daily Mail.

Now plying his trade with the Black Cats since a January loan move from Inter, Muntari is set to face off against Capello’s men on Tuesday as Ghana look to inflict England’s first ever loss to an African nation.

The 26-year-old was managed by Redknapp during a spell at Portsmouth where he lifted the FA Cup before moving to the Italian giants and insists his former boss could unite England’s under-achieving stars.

Muntari added: “He could bring unity to any squad of players.

“He’s a manager players really want to play for; he’s like a father figure.”

Redknapp’s stock has never been so high after a successful spell at Portsmouth and a stint at Tottenham which has catapulted the London club from the relegation zone to conquering the might of Europe in Champions League nights at White Hart Lane.

Redknapp’s recent success with Spurs will certainly boost his CV if FA bosses look for a candidate with Champions League experience when Capello’s tenure expires.

The Black Stars will be without Kevin-Prince Boateng for the clash but familiar Premier League faces such as Richard Kingson, John Pantsil, John Mensah and Asamoah Gyan are expected to figure.
