New Eintracht Frankfurt coach Christoph Daum is aiming to save the club from relegation from the Bundesliga this season.

The controversial 57-year-old was appointed as caretaker coach of the top-flight outfit on Tuesday following the dismissal of Michael Skibbe.

Daum took charge of his first training session on Wednesday at the Commerzbank Arena where he was greeted by about 2000 supporters as he took to the pitch.

He then gave a short interview with German television station Hessischer Rundfunk and outlined his ambitions with the club, saying: “I am looking forward to the job, to being at this traditional club, to try and keep them in the Bundesliga.

“I like how everyone is proud of the club and proud to be a part of the club. My philosophy is to win, to win as many points as possible.

“I have met everyone and planned the schedule for the days and weeks ahead,” he concluded.

Daum is the club’s 36th coach in the Bundesliga and will take charge of his first game against Wolfsburg on April 3rd, with Frankfurt hovering just three points above the relegation zone.
