The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) yesterday declared that no official that handled matches in the ongoing 2010/2011Nigeria Premier League season is being owed, as it has paid to date, all indemnities due to the match officials.
NPL Executive Secretary, Tunji Babalola told Trustsports in a chat that though the league is currently being run without sponsor, the secretariat has been able to discharge its responsibility with the aid of the parent body (NSC) and partners.
Speaking further, Babalola assured that the lingering logjam over the league’s title sponsorship will be resolved before the commencement of the second stanza of the league season.
“We have been able to completely settle the indemnities of match officials, hotel bills and other logistics with the aid of the National Sports Commission (NSC), particularly the Sports Minister and our partners.
“The NPL is optimistic that the issue of title sponsorship will be settled before the commencement of the second round to ensure a smooth continuation of the league”, Babalola stated.
