The forward praised the side’s performance, even though things did not go their way.
“I do not regret taking the penalty. I am very disappointed,” Borriello told Mediaset after the match. “I take full responsibility.
“During other times, things have gone better for me. I am pleased because Roma in the first half played a good match, but was punished by certain moments.
“I am not a pessimist, as we have claimed seven points in three league matches, therefore I say that we are a good, healthy side. I challenge anyone to say that Roma did not look lively and that I played a bad match.
“I will be massacred for the penalty miss, but I tried really hard tonight, just like all my team-mates.”
Borriello is hopeful he will line up for the Giallorossi against fierce rivals Lazio this weekend alongside Francesco Totti.
“I am available, but it is up to the coach to determine who he will play. I will give it my all just like I did this evening,” he concluded.
