Their relationship’s been one of the worst-kept secrets in showbiz, so when Rhys Ifans and Anna Friel made their first public appearance as a couple last week, it was hardly a surprise.
And Now can reveal the reason why the dishevelled actor, 43, is the perfect man to heal Anna’s broken heart, following the end of her nine-year relationship with Harry Potter star David Thewlis in December.
‘Rhys is essentially a kid at heart. He’s able to give women the fun and carefree romance they crave after ending a serious relationship,’ says a pal.
‘Basically he’s a free spirit, which they adore because it allows them to escape the drudge of reality.’
Confirming they’re an item last week, Anna, 34, was quick to add that she’s ‘very happy’ with the Welsh star.
