The Senate President, Senator David Mark, yesterday condemned the bomb blasts in Suleja, Niger State on Thursday which claimed about 10 lives.
In a statement issued yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, the Senate President maintained that such violent culture is alien to Nigeria and that it is gradually taking over Nigeria’s culture of brotherhood and good neighbourliness.
“This is barbaric, alien, totally reprehensible and absurd. This is wicked, evil and inhuman,” Mark declared.
He urged all Nigerians of goodwill to rise up to the occasion and save Nigeria from the evil trend that is already threatening the nation.
“What are their intentions? What would they (perpetrators) gain by killing people without the slightest compunction? What is the problem that cannot be addressed through dialogue and consultations? We must think and think again. This is not our way of life,” he added
Mark sympathised with government and people of Niger State and reiterated the need for every Nigerian to be his brother’s keepers.
He went on: “As a former governor of Niger State, I can attest to the fact that Nigerites are very peaceful people, very accommodating and respect the culture of live and let live.”
According to him, the strange development is targeted at truncating Nigeria’s democracy, as he tasked the security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.
