Hours after a bomb blast rocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally in Suleja, Niger State, a group known as Akwaibom Vigilance Initiative (AVI), has hinted of alleged plots to disrupt the PDP presidential rally billed to hold in the state on Monday.
The disclosure, which was made by the Media Director of the group, Akparawa Ukeme Ononokpono, while addressing newsmen, stated that “information available to the organisation has it that some people are hatching plans to truncate the PDP rally by causing confusion in the state.’’
He said the ‘’unscrupulous elements’’ might have been using a village in Abak Local Government Area of the state as the ground for their anti-progress plans.
He noted that “apart from disrupting the planned rally, they are also planning to engage in sporadic shootings on election days in order to scare the people away from casting their votes for the candidates of their choice.’’
The group further noted that apart from the plans to disrupt the presidential rally, the concerned people had also concluded plans to truncate the April 2011 polls in the state by threatening the electorate through the weapon of fear and intimidation.
