A Washington-based Think Tank with experience in trend analysis and poll results has concluded that flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo will be a hard candidate to sell to the electorate during the 2012 General Elections.

The US group on the other hand opines President Mills could be rated as a president who is understanding and certainly not intolerant or arrogant.

The Ghanaian Trust newspaper, in a publication on Thursday, March 3rd, culled excerpts of the think-tank’s report which stated among other things that “a good candidate for presidential elections should be; understanding, experienced, open minded, strong character, self-discipline, have goals, nice, awesomeness.”

To some, the publication by the “Ghanaian Trust” newspaper culled from the Washington Think-tank cannot be said to be credible since the name of the group was not disclosed.

However, Dr. Omane Boamah, Deputy Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, thinks otherwise. To him, even though the name of the Think Tank was not disclosed, the best way is to “examine the history and practice of the entity that the paper is talking about.”

In his submission on Radio Gold during the Gold Paper Review programme, he alluded to August of 2008, and recalled the NPP’s contracting of a Consultant, Professor Larry Gibson, to help them in strategizing and in analyzing polls.

Dr. Boamah indicated he is inclined to believe the Ghanaian Trust publication in that the story is consistent with Professor Larry Gibson’s findings. According to Dr. Boamah, it was clear that the NPP is a party that has its “fortunes, dwindling day after day under the leadership of Nana Akufo Addo.”

Whiles cautioning NDC activists not to rest on their oars, because the NPP, knowing it has a deficit, will resort to all kinds of desperate measures, just as it did with the infamous “all die be die” statement, Dr. Omane Boamah said the NDC will ensure that Ghanaians elect a president who will resist the NPP with “superior arguments and developmental projects.”
