The Ondo State-owned University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa, yesterday, took off with  99 students, who maticulated  at its temporary site.

The students were admitted into four departments: Biological, Chemistry, Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Olusegun Mimiko said the university was built on a high moral plane and would not tolerate   vices.

Mimiko said: “The conception of the university is a response to the call and desire of the people.

‘’But for providence, this noble idea would have remained at the level of conception.’’

He said the university was expected to take off after all facilities would have been provided.

The governor said: “This expectation contradicts all known precedents. While we were trying to sort out the contradictions, the operating licence of the university was again allegedly suspended. But our  resolve to honour the wishes of the people, indeed to ensure equity, justice and fair play emboldened us.
