Valencia coach Unai Emery regretted his side’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Spanish Primera Division on Wednesday evening, but believes that they lost to the best team in the world.
Los Che went down 1-0 to the Spanish champions at the Mestalla and are now just a point clear of Villarreal in third spot in the league standings.
“When you lose you are not happy, but we competed against the best team in the world,” said Valencia coach Emery after the match, according to Elmundo.es.
“In the second-half the team improved, had two or three chances to score but then Messi appeared and scored the goal.
“We were always close to a goal, but in the end they won. The final assessment remains the result and we are hurting.”
