Spanish side Sevilla have ended their interest in Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan after signing Gary Medel and Schalke midfielder Ivan Rakitic on Thursday night.
Sevilla will pay Universidad Catolica €3 million for Medel, who can play as a defender as well as a midfielder. Rakitic is also expected to sign a deal imminently that is expected to stretch until 2014 and it’s been reported that Sevilla will pay Schalke €1.5m for his services.
Sevilla wanted to sign Annan from Rosenborg who were holding out for US$5m transfer fee while Sevilla’s last final offer was US$3m.
With a deal not being reached on his transfer fee, Sevilla opted to sign two midfielders to make up for the delays by Rosenborg Annan waded into the transfer stalemate on Thursday morning between his club and Sevilla insisting he wants to join the Spanish side.
The Ghanaian issued the stern warning to the Norwegian club who have rejected several Sevilla offers for Annan.
