    Gondwe fit for BoZ

THE appointment of prominent banker and lawyer, Michael Gondwe, as Bank of Zambia (BoZ) Governor will greatly help in ensuring stability in the economic sector given the important role the office plays.

Briefcase would, therefore, like to welcome back Dr Gondwe who has been at the helm of the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development (PTA Bank) for the past 10 years, to the local economic scene.

He is best suited for the job and there is no doubt that he will live up to the challenge.

    FNB disapoints clients

BRIEFCASE has learnt with sadness that First National Bank (FNB)has allegedly not been honouring the house, car and ordinary loans in time contrary to its own pledge.

Despite the extensive publicity and advertisement the bank under took promising that it will offer its loans within four working days, some applicants from Ndola have complained that they have been waiting for loans for more than a month.

The bank, which just keeps application without notifying the applicants whether they have been rejected or approval, will do well to live by its pledge.

    Budget approval hailed

THE unanimous approval of the 2012 National Budget by Members ofParliament (MPs) on Friday last week is a step in the right directionwhich goes to show the level of maturity of Zambian politicians.

Given the fact that the Government does not have the absolute majority in Parliament, there have been fears that some opposition MPs may try to derail the Government programmes by unnecessarily blocking the passage of the 2012 Appropriation Bill for sheer political reasons.

Well done Parliamentarians for approving the estimates in a record period of less than three weeks.
