All roads lead to Muri Okunola Gardens, Victoria Island, Friday as the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Sport Minister Bolaji Abdullahi and the President of Nigeria Olympic Committee, Sani Ndanusa unveil the Olympic countdown clock of the Olympic movement.
The high-profile event scheduled to start at 6 pm is expected to attract stakeholders in sports, ex-Olympians and captains of industry especially First Bank Plc (official Bank of the Olympics), WAKANOW, IMPC.
The unveiling of the clock, the first of its kind since the country’s 60 years of Olympism would also be attended by some notable Nigerian musicians who are expected to enliven the venue with their songs.
Ndanusa said Thursday that the countdown clock was part of the activities to prepare the London 2012 Olympics.
“We are going to compete for medals in the sport that we are taking part in. We are not going to participate and make up the numbers. The ceremony also shows the vibrancy of the NOC in bringing private sector to support Nigerian quest for the medals in London. In this regard, we are indeed grateful to First Bank for throwing their weight behind NOC and the Team Nigeria.”
