The 2008 presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom is urging the leadership of the party to direct their efforts to building the party and stop attacking his personality.

He said the presidential hopefuls of the CPP should think about how they can help the party to capture power in 2012 rather than hurling insults on him.

According to him, now that he had left the party, the insinuations and vilification against his person by some leading members of the party should cease because he no longer holds sway in the party.

Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, has broken away from the party to pursue his presidential ambitions as an independent candidate in the 2012 elections.

Addressing the media on his decision on Wednesday, Dr. Nduom called on visionaries who seek the welfare of the ordinary Ghanaian to join forces with him.

Dr. Nduom urged Ghanaians to vote massively for him in next year’s polls to experience real change in their pockets.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii-Sen on Thursday, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom noted that he is gone for good. “I am now gone so those who will be contesting for the presidential primary should focus on CPP… I am expecting decency in our actions henceforth because I am not in the party again. I will talk to my people so they should also talk to theirs to behave themselves”.

He debunked claims by some members of the party that he is going to reclaim the offices he presented to the party few months ago.”I have no intentions of reclaiming the party offices I presented to the party because it was done whole-heartedly”.

He however said the offices which were given to the party but were rejected by the party leadership will be kept. “The remaining that was not received by the party will be used by my new political movements but the ones in CPP’s hands cannot be taken back”.

He promised his movement will field parliamentary candidates in the 2012 general elections and hopes to win more seats. “By February next year, we will have been strong as a movement that will be accepted by the EC in order to approach 2012 strongly”.

“It is not my ultimate desire to become a president or presidential candidate because the movement has come to help society at large”.

He stated that since he declared to form a new political movement, many Ghanaians have hailed the idea and agreed to join.

Dr. Nduom stressed that his party will not present a manifesto for the 2012 general elections because it will be meaningless. “a lot of political parties presents manifesto and later on tell different stories. We will not write any lengthy documents but we will tell Ghanaians what we can do”
