Anders Lindegaard says he is a completely different player to the one that signed for Manchester United almost a year ago.

The Dane has spent much of the last 12 months deputising for Edwin van der Sar and David de Gea, although a string of impressive first-team appearances this season have seen him boost his chances of becoming Sir Alex Ferguson’s number one.

Lindegaard has conceded just once in seven appearances this season and is quick to thank United’s staff for his improvement.

He told the Daily Mirror: “Eric Steele [United’s goalkeeping coach] has taught me everything, he’s torn me apart and built me up again.

“I owe him a lot for the goalkeeper I am today. It’s been a long journey and it’s been amazing.

“When I first arrived he said to me, ‘Everything you’ve been taught before you have to forget because it’s wrong and what I say is the truth’.

“He pretty much did rebuild my game. He taught me from the beginning again but I was happy to do that.

“I was 26 and thrilled to sign for Manchester United and I’d do anything to make my dream come true. I’ve done as much as I could to live up to what people wanted of me.

“It’s the technical aspects of the game Steeley changed and which he said you just can’t use here in England.

“If I keep progressing like I have I’ll be very satisfied 12 months from now.”

The Premier League champions can be top at the turn of the year if they beat Blackburn at home on Saturday.
