Nigerian midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim has had his contract terminated by Dutch Eredivsie side PSV for his lack of performance 10 months into a three-year contract.
The former Under-17 World Cup winning talent failed to break into the first team and was let go due to the fact that his contract was based on performance.
Ibrahim was one of the stars tipped to shine after his contribution to Nigeria winning the U17 title in 2007. He has since been unable to live up to expectation after failing to break into the Sporting Lisbon first team, where he was let go at the end of his three-year contract.
Ibrahim, who was widely compared to Nigerian legend Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, played only two league games for PSV before having his three-year contract terminated.
PSV coach Fred Rutten had described him as fast and special when he signed him on after trials in March.
