Ezenwa Otorogu
Bloemfontein Celtic coach Clinton Larsen says he is happy with Nigerian striker Ezenwa Otorogu and that he does not agree with an ‘apparent’ goal scoring problem, which some pundits have spoken about.
“I am excited with our new acquisition Ezenwa Otorogu, who I feel will fit into the squad well,” Larsen said.
“He is a big, strong, imposing striker with a nose for goals. He weighs in at 91 kg and is tall and mobile, a typical West African dynamo.
“I am not as concerned as some pundits about our ‘apparent’ goal-scoring problem as I have done plenty research and I found out Celtic is right up there with regard to return from strikers.
“Lennox Bacela has two, Moses Spandeel has two and Mulenga has three. That is decent in relation to SA football, but with Otorogu in the frame that will only improve.”
Larsen, meanwhile, went on to say that he feels Celtic’s defence has been “solid all season”, with the conceding of two deflected goals and a soft penalty “distorting reality somewhat”.
“But that is football and sometimes the luck is with you or not. The trick is to prepare a strong team week in and week out, and it will balance out where favourable results will come your way more often,” he says.
