Schalke forward Jefferson Farfan has revealed that his heart lies with the Ruhr-based outfit and shared his disappointment with the club’s decision to put a halt on contract negotiations.
The Royal Blues have reportedly withdrawn their €6m contract offer to the 27-year-old and are prepared to let him leave in January.
Farfan has now conceded that he has little choice but to listen to offers in the upcoming transfer window.
“I’m surprised that Schalke have rescinded the offer they gave me two weeks ago. Mainly because of the love I feel for Schalke and my desire to extend my stay,” Farfan said, according to Bild.
“Too bad, because we were very close to reaching an agreement on the extension. I have every intention to do that. From January 2012, I’ll be ready to listen to offers from interested clubs. I have no other choice.
“But it should be clear to all that I would die on the pitch for Schalke and I will fight with all my strength for the fans, to do the best I possibly can in the Bundesliga.”
Farfan moved to Veltins Arena from PSV in 2008 for the sum of €10 million.
