In line with its policy to enhance the promotion of football in the country, GLICO Group, a leading organization in the insurance industry, sponsored the historic Kuffour Testimonial match between the Ghana Black Stars and Friends of Sammy Kuffour to ensure that it was successful.
GLICO offered an insurance package for the players and dignitaries in addition to a cash donation, two sets of jerseys and hoses which were used for the opening match.
The items were presented to Sammy Kuffour by the GLICO management at their Head Office in Accra.
Presenting the items, Mr. George Appiah Addae, General Manager of Operations, commended him on his brilliant soccer career, particularly his impressive performance in the Black Stars team, saying that GLICO was pleased to support his testimonial match.
However, he remarked: “It is sad that Sammy Kuffour is quitting the game at a crucial time when his services are needed to strengthen the national team for international football encounters”.
Mr. Addae therefore urged him not to shun the team but “sit on the bench” as it were, to share his rich experiences with the players which will enable them excel in their matches.
In his brief address, Sammy Kuffour noted that he appreciates the exceptional support of GLICO for sports and games in the country and thanked the management for the good gesture, calling on other companies to emulate it.
