Moroccan national team coach Eric Gerets has named his official 23-man squad for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). The most notable returnee in the squad is undoubtedly starting goalkeeper Nadir Lamyaghri, as some observers were concerned that shoulder surgery he underwent in November would prevent him from taking part in the continental showpiece.

After missing out on the previous edition of the Afcon, the Atlas Lions will be fielding a particularly strong squad in return to the continental stage. With the likes of Adel Taarabt, Oussama Assaidi, Nordin Amrabat, Youssef El Arabi, and Marouane Chamakh, the team features some astounding midfield and attacking talent.

One notable absentee that some analysts were calling on to be included after his impressive showing in 2012 Olympic qualifying is Getafe midfielder Abdelaziz Barrada.

Morocco were drawn in Group C alongside co-hosts Gabon, Niger, and Tunisia. They will begin their tournament with a Maghreb derby against the Carthage Eagles on January 23 in Libreville.
