The case in which three students were nabbed for allegedly robbing a boutique at Dworwulu at gun point, and made away with several items and cash of GH¢1,130 has been adjourned to January 11, 2012.
The students from Accra Academy are Adusu Benjamin 19, Obeng Francis Akoi 18, Braimah Mohammed 19, have been charged with conspiracy and robbery.
They have pleaded not guilty and the court presided over by Mr Eric Kyei-Baffour, remanded them into police custody.
The Police are hunting for Richard Anane an accomplice who is said to be on the run.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kofi Blagodzi the prosecutor expressed the intention of the Police to consolidate the two dockets.
He explained that Adusu and Akoi were the first to be arrested and brought to court, while in the case of Mohammed, his father on hearing the news about his son’s involvement in the act, handed him over to the Police.
DSP Blagodzi said the complainant was Mr Patrick Afful, a shop attendant at “Papish Couture” boutique at Dworwulu, and at about 1300 hours on December 8, the accused persons and their accomplices now at large visited the boutique to purchase some items.
He said after ascertaining prices of the items displayed, the accused persons left the boutique.
DSP Blagodzi said one-and-a-half hours later, the accused persons, who had their bags behind them, returned to the boutique and asked for prices of the items again.
He said in the process, two of the accused persons lured the complainant into a cubicle and tied him with a rope after threatening him with two cutlasses and a gun.
The accused persons then locked the complainant in the toilet and made away with 14 pairs of shoes, 17 T- Shirts, a pair of jeans, three belts, seven spectacles, three beach sandals, three ladies wear, 13 shirts and quantity of jewelries all valued at GH¢13, 830 and cash of GH¢1,130.
The prosecutor said luck however, run out on them when the complainant managed to untie himself and shouted for help, and a taxi being used by the accused persons was stopped by residents and with the assistance of a policeman on duty, arrested Adusu and Akoi but Anane and Mohammed escaped.
Adusu and Akoi were handed over to the Police Patrol Team who in turn gave them over to the Police at Kotobabi in Accra.
