A brace from Gareth Bale gave the three points to the Spurs

Two Gareth Bale goals gave Tottenham Hotspur a fine 2-0 win at Norwich City at a time when most of their Premiership rivals could only draw their matches.

In a round of games where Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all drew, it was only Spurs and Manchester United of the big six who got full points over the last two days.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp will be pleased at the way his side dominated away from home, despite a plucky showing by Norwich.

Bale’s first goal was set up by Emmanuel Adebayor and his second supplied by Luka Modric.

Norwich had started the game with a 4-4-2 system with Steve Morison paired up front with Grant Holt. The hosts, prior to kick off, had scored 27 goals – more than any other side outside the top five this season.

But Spurs asked all the questions from the start with Bale doing well to rob Russell Martin of the ball, only to sky his shot well over John Ruddy’s crossbar in the first half an hour.

Then Emmanuel Adebayor had an opportunity following a fantastic Modric pass, but the Togolese striker’s touch was heavy and he lost control of the ball.

Then Spurs had a good penalty shout turned down when William Gallas was tripped deliberately by Morison in the run-up to a corner kick. But it went unnoticed by the match officials.
In the second half, just as Norwich looked to be asserting themselves, Surs broke the deadlock.

Rafael van Der Vaart found Adebayor in the box and he slid the ball to Bale who slotted home low under Ruddy in the 56th minute.

Then in the 67th, Bale was played through by Modric and the Welshman ran straight through the heart of the Norwich defence before chipping calmly over Ruddy.

The Canary fans tried their best to lift their team, but Spurs were in total control of the game, with Modric dominating in midfield alongside Sandro and Scott Parker.
