Coach Wedson Nyirenda
Wedson Nyirenda has returned for a second spell as coach of Zambian Super Division club Zesco United.
Zesco club secretary Justin Mumba told MTNFootball.com that the two parties agreed terms on December 23.
“We have appointed Wedson Nyirenda as our new head coach,” Mumba said.
“The contract is effective 1 January and the contract is for three years.”
Nyirenda replaces interim coach Masautso Mwale who was his assistant during his first spell from 2007 to 2008.
He recently quit as Zanaco coach earlier this month whom he joined from Zesco in 2009.
And Mumba said Nyirenda has been given the freedom to pick his own backroom staff and players he wants to retain for the 2012Â season.
Nyirenda is back at Zesco, where he won back-to-back Super Division titles in 2007 and 2008.
He also won the 2007 and 2008 Barclays Cup plus the 2007 Coca Cola Cup.
Nyirenda also made history when he became the first coach to guide a Zambian club to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
In 2009, he won the Super Division title in his first season with Zanaco.
Nyirenda also led Zanaco to a group stage appearance in the 2010 CAF Confederation Cup.
