United Arab Emirates (UAE) businessman Sheikh Al Sowaidi Sultan Humaid has promised to secure excelling SC Villa players contracts in foreign clubs.

“All I can promise you is nothing but good contacts outside this country so that you can come back to Uganda with millions to share with your families,” Huamaid one of UAE side Al Wasl FC directors, said during a visit to Villa Park yesterday.

SC Villa director Fred Muwema met Humaid in May and the two reached an understanding that would see the UAE side become a link for Villa and the outside world. However, nothing has materialised yet as Villa are currently struggling on the pitch with only one win in 13 league matches. “I pray that the players and the board will work every hard to take Villa to the top,” said Humaid.

Villa manager Mike Mutebi though, assured the Sheikh to have a player of professional quality in the near future. “By the end of next season I assure you, I’ll have got at least one player to go and open doors for the others,” said Mutebi. Villa were the first Ugandan team to sell a player to Europe when the late Majid Musisi joined French side Rennes in 1992.
