Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Sports Club has made passionate appeal to the SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, for support. Team manager, Bala Muhammed, made the call recently at the end of the game between Office of SGF’s team and the National Youth Service Corps’ team in which the Office of SGF’s team won 5-4 in penalty shootout to win a gold medal in the football event at the just concluded 30th Public Service Games held in Calabar, Cross River State.

“We have never won gold in Public Service Games. But we vowed that we are going to make the SGF proud this time and we did.

“No one gave us a chance, but the players and officials were committed to achieving results. We played with the games right from playoff to the final without using any machinery. All the players are our staff. So, I want to use this opportunity to call on the SGF and his permanent secretary to give us all the necessary support and we will do more,” he appealed.

The 30th Public Service Games tagged ‘Calabar 2011’ came to a climax on Sunday, December 18, 2011 in Calabar, Cross River State with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) finishing first on the overall medal table with 68 medals of 40 gold, 13 silver, and 15 bronze.
