A group of US investors have signified interest to invest in the non-oil sector of the economy.

The investors, JRJ Technology and LLC, a consortium of American and Canadian engineering and construction firms, will invest and mobilize other reputable investors into the mining, agriculture, value chain, transnational border market, energy, infrastructure and aviation sub-sectors of the economy.

Already, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect, has been signed between the federal government and the foreign investors in Abuja.

Minister of trade and investment, Olusegun Aganga signed on behalf of the Federal Government while Engineer Jozsef Alberti, a Canadian based investor represented JRJ Technology and LLC.

As part of the agreement, a viable institutional partnership for ‘Train-to-Work’ initiative of the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment is to be created.

The agreement includes the identification of business opportunities; development of entrepreneurship and vocational capacities and the provision of necessary star-up capital for small and medium enterprises for Nigerians.

The minister, who praised the investors and Mr. Alberti for their dedication and commitment to invest in the country, urged them to continue to be Nigeria’s ambassador.

Aganga informed his guests that the federal government was developing a transnational Border Market in Shaki, Oyo State for genuine investors to take advantage of.

According to him, the federal government is developing the market in collaboration with the Oyo State government and Britain Department for International Development (DFID).

‘This is a fruitful and symbiotic relationship and our job is to make sure you realize your goal and make return to your shareholders’, the minister pointed out.

Earlier, Engineer Jozsef Alberti said they were ready to explore the huge potentials in the mining, agriculture value chain, energy, infrastructure and aviation sub-sectors.

He thanked the Federal Government for creating an environment that is conducive for investors and pledged to do their best to transform the economy of Nigeria.
