Sammy Sholei, the vice-chairman of the Football Kenya Federation, has been summoned by the executive office over gross misconduct.
Sholei is also being accused of insubordination after he hit out at the federation’s chairman, Sam Nyamweya, for sidelining him and has been summoned to explain his media outbursts.
Last week , the vice-chairman quit as one of the signatories of the FKF’s bank account, saying he has been left out of key roles at the federation.
Wanted before committee
In a letter addressed to the former Kenyan international by the FKF chaiman, Sholei has been asked to appear before the National Executive Council on January 13 to explain his position.
“You are hereby asked to appear before the federation’s NEC to explain your position on issues you have raised in the media,” the letter read in part.
“It seems there is an effort to ensure that I do not operate and perform my duties as the vice-chairman,” Sholei had alleged.
Image to protect
“I have an image to protect and therefore I quit as one of the signatories to the federation’s account.”
But on Saturday, a day after he appeared on a local television station accusing the FKF of sidelining and frustrating him, Sholei said he is fighting impunity at the federation.
His future at the FKF remains shaky after the summons. Cracks started emerging in the federation soon after the national football elections.
