Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho-West on Monday lauded the Ghanaian media for providing the platform for a vigorous discourse of national issues.

He said this role, combined with the other functions of the media, had contributed to maintaining Ghana’s democratic dispensation on course.

Mr Bedzrah was addressing Journalists in the Volta Region at a soiree he hosted in Ho.

He observed, however, that some Journalists continued to peddle inaccurate information, unsubstantiated facts and sloppy opinions.

“As we are once more going heading towards the political season, I wish to use this platform to appeal to the media to cross check their information before going to press,” Mr Bedzrah stated.

He said he was completely amenable to constructive criticisms and that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), of which he is a member, cherished probity, accountability and transparency.

Mr Bedzrah had consistently supported media activities in the Volta Region in the past three years, providing a desktop computer with accessories for the Volta Regional Office of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA).

He has also promised to connect the GJA office to the internet very soon.

Mr Bedzrah announced that a site on the net, www.howest.org would soon be active for all information needed on the Ho-West constituency.

He said views that government was not doing much for the Volta Region were wrong and that the region was getting its fair share of development projects.

Mr Victor Kwawukume, the GJA Volta Regional Chairman lauded Mr Bedzrah’s for his contribution towards the media.

He said but for Mr Bedzrah, the crucial channel of information between members of parliament in the Volta Region and their people would have been void.
