Bloemfontein Celtic coach Clinton Larsen says he is “very happy” with Clifford Mulenga’s consistency and contribution to a “big win” over Orlando Pirates recently.

“Yes I am very happy with Clifford. Last season he was in and out of the team but this season he has been ever present. He has been performing consistently,” Larsen told MTNFootball.com.

“He may not be scoring as consistently, but he has still chipped in with four goals this season.”

One of those goals was a winner against League champions Pirates recently and Mulenga himself was over the moon with his contribution.

“I have been waiting for a long time and I am very happy actually,” Mulenga told MTNFootball.com.

“I really wanted this goal and to score a goal against a big team like Pirates feels greet because they (Pirates) were rolling on cloud nine.”

Larsen meanwhile believes it was a “big win” against Pirates, which will help Celtic fight for the league.

“We hope to build from it coming into the New Year. We hope to start the New Year like we finished the first round, which has left our spirits high,” the coach says.

He will need Mulenga to continue with his progress, however, because history shows that the Zambian international struggles with consistency.

After leaving First Division side AmaTuks, Mulenga joined Bidvest Wits and started 11 games (scoring 1 goal).

He then played for Thanda Royal Zulu (6 starts/5 goals), Mpumalanga Black Aces (23/9) and is now closing in on 20 starts for Celtic.
