Gambia is ranked 116th on the coca-cola monthly standing moving two places up Fifa’s country-rater reveals. Gambia leaped up two places on eight hundred and eighty-five points, five points above their previous footing.
Despite not playing test matches since they bowed out of the 2012 Equatorial Guinea and Gabon Nations cup in the qualifiers, the new standing had done the Scorpions a little favour after Fifa revealed the results on Wednesday night.
On the continent, Gambia is 29th out of the fifty-three African countries with an average of 129.18 this year.
Spain tops the standing, then Netherlands, Germany, Uruguay, England and Brazil on 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.
The Scorpions fell short of yet another qualification spot in the Caf tournament, drawing their last encounter with Burkina Faso in Banjul.
As a result of yet another abysmal performance, the country had its third foreign coach Paul Put, sacked and the replacement however remain unnamed.
