Cabinda — The Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), general Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda, said Saturday in Cabinda Province that the Angolan Army, Air Force and Navy have written their names with blood in the glorious pages of the history of Angolan people.

General Nunda, who said so at the central act of commemoration of the 19th anniversary of the Army, marked on Saturday, stressed that the pages of the history of the Angolan people were written by effectives from the three branches, under the instructions and orders of the Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) José Eduardo dos Santos.

“Because of them, I want to seize this sublime occasion to pay a heartfelt homage, because they gave the best of themselves at the service of the Army, including sacrificing their own lives, in the defence of the noblest aspirations of the Angolan people”, said the FAA Chief of Staff.

He also revealed that the National Defence Ministry and the FAA are committed to improving the assistance to the military, be it in terms of foodstuff, uniform, medicines and medical treatment.

The ceremony was attended by the governor of Cabinda Province, Mawete João Baptista, the deputy chiefs of Staff of FAA for Operational Matters/Development and Patriotic Education, the generals Jorge Barros Nguto and Egídio de Sousa Santos “Disciplina”, respectively.

The event was also attended by the three heads of the three branches of FAA (Army, Air Force and Navy), the second Commander of the National Police, military attachés accredited in Angola and guests.
